Re: [NTG-context] index sort question

2010-11-23 Thread Horacio Suarez

thankyou Vianney and Jano,
I'm using MarkII.
Anyway \pagenumber is not usefull because there ir more than 1 index item per
page.
But using a number and incrementing it each index ocurrence works neither.
Excuse my ignorance, but I don't know what is expanded or what does the
expansion key?

thankyou for your answers.

  D\index[araña+\pagenumber]{araña+grande}\page

 Are you using MarkII or MarkIV? In mkiv the above solution works here.
 In mkii \expadned makes it work as Vianney has already suggested.

[NTG-context] text looseness-tightness

2010-08-23 Thread Horacio Suarez

hello all
I have a 2 column A4 document, each 71,5mm wide. text is CMR 9pt.
there is a paragraph 12 lines long. the 12th are the 3 last letters from the
word procesos, or sos.
I really need that 3 letters go up. I need 11 lines. they are just 3 characters
in 11 lines. a single syllable.
\looseness=-1 is not enough. I also tried inserting discretional hyphens where
they can be more usefull, some times helps me but not now.
How can I FORCE spacing bettween characters, words (or both). I don't care if
it looks too tight.
I know that this can seems sacrilegious, but nobody will notice it!
thankyou in advance for you generous people.

previous is the right option when the entry is the first in that page, but

first is the right option when the first lines in the page are part of a

so, I dont know what to do.

Hans, thankyou very much, I see you answer in gname, but I didnt received that
mail yet.

I made a marking from each entry in the dictionary and its works, but there is
a problem because the entry printed is the second, not the first.

Is it possible to do it automatically? where can I look for it? please give me

2009-12-23 Thread Horacio Suarez

hello all again.

I don't know why but i'm not receiving this list mails. I'm reading the mails
in gname.

But, back to the dictionary, I use the example in texshow, as Jelle (thankyou
very much) told me.

previous is the right option when the entry is the first in that page, but

first is the right option when the first lines in the page are part of a
previous entry that starts in a previous page

so, I dont know what to do.

I hope I've explain myself, thankyou in advance.

[NTG-context] footnote numbers size in heads

2009-04-29 Thread Horacio Suarez

Hello all:

using defaults setings, footnote numbers size in heads are too big.

I usually use

\chapter{Capitulo 1\switchtobodyfont[9]\footnote{texto del
footnote}\switchtobodyfont[11]}

and works fine.

But if I have a chapter head with a footnote in the middle:

\chapter{Capitulo 1\switchtobodyfont[9]\footnote{texto del
footnote}\switchtobodyfont[11] continua el titulo}

the result is not correct.

How can I fix this?

tahnkyou in adavance.

2008-07-03 Thread Horacio Suarez

hello

I was wrong, my linux context version is 2008.5.21 and ~ \vfill works but the
windows versions is the same that yours (Peter) and does not work.

I been using this since a long time ago and when it fails in windows, I simply
try in linux because sometimes linux and windows context versions doesn't
behave identically.

Sometime ago I post a question about a file that aborts in linux but compile
fine in windows, I never knew why.

But now is the context version. The question is: Should it work or it shouldn't.

May be a enconding related issue?

Saludos, Horacio

\setupheadertexts[] doesn´t supress the header.

 Strange, as this supresses the header page number here.
 Second try (not much experience with this...)

 Look for the configuration file texmf.cnf in both installations.
 (kpsewhich texmf.cnf) In your Windows installation, the value of
 pool_size is bigger than in your linux install. Increase the value,
 regenerate the formats, and you're done.

Hullo,

I've just learnt enough LaTeX to start writing when Mojca convinced me to
try

out ConTeXt. So far, I think I like it, but have a few beginner's problems
with it.

The first one being, which editor to use? So far I've been using Kile for
LaTeX and KBib for BibTeX, but Kile doesn't support (yet) ConTeXt syntax,
which is a bit different from the LaTeX one.

Could anyone suggest a good ConTeXt-aware editor for Linux?

Ideally, I would like to see Kile (and Kate) support ConTeXt, but untill I
manage to bug their devs into it, I would still need an editor.

regards,

Matija Å uklje

p.s. this is my first post here, I hope I'm not going against any localy
established netiquette
p.p.s. Mojca bugged me to join it ;)

I have a problem with endnotes.

I use \placefootnotes at the end of each chapter.

When the last page of a chapter is almost empty, the footnotes are placed at

jumps to a new page.

Also, I have a \stopcolumns before the notes.

How can I force the notes to keep in the same page?

2007-07-04 Thread Horacio Suarez
everybody can forget my last mail. I was crazy at that moment.

anyway, it seems to be true that \postponefootnote afects text flow.

I use \postponefootnote in a chapter and the next chapter text flow changes
if I comment out or not \postponefootnote.

There are 3 situations that affect in diferent way the text flow in the next
chapter:

Not to use \postponefootnote

Use \postponefootnote before \bTABLE

Use \postponefootnote after \bTABLE in a cell inmediatly before \footnote

Is this correct?

Thankyou for your patient

[NTG-context] lis of figures

2007-06-27 Thread Horacio Suarez
Hello all:

I have a book with 15 text chapters, after, a part with 24 pages for
ilustrations with is own list of figures and then two more text chapters.

I have then a Table of contents at the beggining of the book and one list of
figures almost in the end.

My list of figures is empty. I have only the head (Ilustraciones, in this
case).

Is a structure related problem? or what? Is necesary some kind of definelist
for the figures?

Help! i need somebodys help!!

Thankyou

Hi,

i was playing with table of figures few days ago. My solution is
probably not the best one, but it works.

\definelist[figs]

\def\addFigure#1#2#3#4%

{

\placefigure[here][fig:#1]{#2}{\externalfigure[#3][scale=#4]}

\writetolist[figs]{fig:#1}{#2}

}

\def\placeTOF%

{

\title{Table of figures}

\placelist[figs][alternative=command,command=\TOFCommand]

}

\def\TOFCommand#1#2#3%

{{\bf Fig. \in[#1] } #2 \dotfill #3\blank[.1cm]  }

For each figure you want on list you have to use \addFigure instead of
\placefigure. Is there any shorter and better solution?

With best regards, Crt Gorup

2007-06-27 Thread Horacio Suarez

Hello:

I have a book with 18 chapter. in one of them, the 16th, I need a local list
of figures, I mean figures in that chapter only.

But if I type:

\completelistoffigures[alternative=c]

I only get the head, Ilustraciones but empty. And

\placelist[figure]

Is also empty but without head.

I´ve allready made list I need almost by hand, but anyway I want to know how
to do it.

Thankyou in advance.

What is wrong with \placelist[figure]? AFAIU, \placefigure does
something equivalent to \writetolist[figure]{}{}. so you should be able
to access the list of figures using \placelist[figure].

Does that not work for you? Can you post a minimal example?

[NTG-context] List of figures

2007-06-26 Thread Horacio Suarez

Hello all:

I have a chapter with 36 images this way:

\placefigure[here][1]{Mapa de la provincia de Corrientes y de localización
de la

 escuela.}{\externalfigure[gandulfo][width=11.9cm]}

At the beggining of the chapter I have:

\completelistoffigures[alternative=c,criterium=chapter,interaction=all]

But only the head is shown (Ilustraciones)

If I use

\placelistoffigures[alternative=c,criterium=chapter,interaction=all]

not even the head is shown.

What is wrong?

Thankyou in advance.

Hi Horacio,

you can change alignment in natural tables with the align-key, it should
accept the same values as \setupalign for the normal text.

\starttext
\bTABLE[align=hyphenated]
\bTR
  \bTD\input knuth \eTD
  \bTD\input knuth \eTD
\eTR

[NTG-context] Table of contents and 2UP or 2SIDE

Hello:

When I use (just for saving paper and print time)

\setuparranging[2UP]

\setuparranging[2SIDE]

my table of content is empty, just the header (Indice) appears in that page.
But if I don't use any arranging the TOC it's ok.

I can print the TOC alone, but I want to know if I'm doing somethig wrong,
as usual...

Re: [NTG-context] footnote number in header

2006-09-01 Thread Horacio Suarez

Thankyou  very much.

I´ve fixed it using \marking, making a mark for use in the headerstexts
instead of chapter.

Now, the footnote number in titles (chapters) is veri big. If someone want
to tell me the solution...

I saw that almost anything is posible but ones have to search...

thankyou.

Hi,

maybe that the use of \nomarking is an option. However this will place
an ellipsis in the title

\setupheadertexts[][{\getmarking[section][current]}]
\starttext
\completecontent

\chapter{Chapter number one\footnote{Footnote of chapter one}}
\input tufte
\section{Section one in chapter one \nomarking{\footnote{Footnote
nomarking for section one}}}
\input tufte
\stoptext

According to ConTeXt wiki (wiki.contextgarden.net), tif(f) is NOT a
generally accepted file format in ConTeXt, some systems process it, but
most don't.
As I process ConTeXt straight into pdf (in Windows, using the wincontext
distribution), I used jpg and png as bitmap file formats and that has been
successful this far - so you may want to try another figure file format.

See http://wiki.contextgarden.net/File_Formats for up-to-date information
about what formats work with what configurations, the information in at
least my version of the big manual (chapter 13) is partly obsolete.

  Well, I start from the beginning with odd/even layout setting, and
  the
  following does not work. The behaviour I see is that only the odd
  setting
  is used. What is wrong in there?

  \definelayout[odd]
 [width=middle,
  backspace=7cm,
  cutspace=5cm]

  \definelayout[even]
 [backspace=8cm,
  cutspace=2cm,
  width=middle]

  \setuplayout

  %\showlayout

  \starttext
  \dorecurse{4}{
  \section{Hello}
  \input knuth \endgraf
  \subsection{Sub Hello}
  \input tufte \endgraf}
  \stoptext

Hallo!

This doesn't work here, too!

The wiki said it should work. So, maybe there ist something broken in
the meantime.

In 'page-lay.tex' I found something with

\setuplayout[odd][state=stop]
\setuplayout[even][state=stop]

so

a.) Not alone \definelayout but also \setuplayout should work with
odd|even.
b.) Because there is something to stop here, there may be some need
to start it?

Btw. \definelayout[1][] doesn't work too.

[NTG-context] header misaligned and columns problem

2006-08-22 Thread Horacio Suarez

Hello

This is my page:

\definepapersize[argento][width=20cm,height=28cm]
\setuppapersize[argento][A3]
\setuppagenumbering[alternative=doublesided,location=]
\setuplayout[location=middle,marking=on,textwidth=150mm]

And everithig is fine, but headers are not aligned with text.

Also, I use 2 columns in most of the book, but 4 chapters uses 3 columns.

I use

\startcolumns[n=2, balance=yes,distance=8mm]

or

\startcolumns[n=3, balance=yes,distance=5mm]

In two columns is ok, but in 3 columns, all the 3 columns don´t fit the
whole textwidth, I mean, the sum of the 3 columns width plus the 2
intercolumns space are less (about 1cm) than 150mm, as setuplayout says.

Thankyou very much.

I use start stop columns. I´ve fix it with a \blank at the end of the

Maybe adding some space before the footnote can fix it better.

Hello Horacio,
then, your input file is not utf-encoded. Try to do a
recode l1..u8 file.tex
or replace utf by il1, since you email seems to be latin1 encoded.
You seem to have character-encoding problems with your mailer too: the
character-encoding of the subject line and the body are not specified.
Cheers, Peter

I´m mailing from windows, but Context is over linux, in another computer.

But about emacs, i´m using the default slackware emacs instalation. Maybe
it´s out of topic.

I recive word doc files from the authors. I processes usin openoffice, make
some edits {\em italics}, etc, and save in txt format. Then I open in emacs
and start to insert comands and some replaces, the %, $, etc.

In latex, I have no problem with acceted characters, á, é etc. and I can use
á or \´a. But in context I have to úse \´a, \´e, etc. I don´t know i f that
is because the emacs encoding or what.

In emacs I see teh acceted characters perfectly and I can type the loading
iso-accents-mode.

I prefer not to make replaces beacuse I can make mistakes besides the time.

thankyou.,

 I need this caracter: ¿
 I´ve load a module, enco-ec, but I can´t see the ¿.
 I also tryed \usetypescript[modern][ec] but didn´t work either.

It is much simpler than that. Just use utf regime.

\enableregime[utf]
\starttext
  ¿
\stoptext

That doesn´t work for me either. The character name is questiondown and
\questiondown works fine.

Do you use that character in that way? I´ll preffer, because in spanish I
have to make a lot of replaces, á, é,  í, ó, ú, ñ and ¿, so I can make a
mistake.

Hmm, in principle you should have already got Índice, at least if you
used \mainlanguage[es].

For chapter, try:  \setuplabeltext[es] [chapter=Capitulo ] % with space.

By the way at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/ one finds several useful tips.

If you don't know them, the Beginner's manual,

The manual, http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/cont-enp.pdf ,
are worthwhile to read.
