Re: [NTG-context] Which standard installed font displays ' and ` good

2011-03-23 Thread Miguel Queiros
It's advisable to use \quote{...} or \quotation{...} for quotation
marks. That way, if you do need to change them, you only do it in one
place rather than throughout the document.

Now why the heck aren't those commands mentioned anywhere in Context
 - An Excursion?

I remembered seeing these commands somewhere, so I searched in the
wiki and found them:

Re: [NTG-context] ConTeXt licensing

2011-03-01 Thread Miguel Queiros

You won't get a more official response than
 http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/mreadme.pdf

. . . and don’t bother discussing licence issues and related things
with us for the mere sake of discussing licence stuff.

If someone wants to use ConTeXt commercially I advise her to contact
Pragma ADE, if only to get a support contract (if they offer such a
 thing).

http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/mreadme.pdf

In the readme above we can read on page 2 (about the code it self):
The program code (i.e. anything not under the /doc subtree) is
distributed under the Creative Commons GNU GPL

and

The GNU General Public License is a Free Software license. Like any
Free Software license, it grants to you the four following freedoms:
The freedom to run the program for any purpose.

So I don't really see any issues about using Context commercially,
as long as someone is not trying to create a new system named
MyOwnTex that is based on Context, and trying to distribute it
without obeying Context's license. That's what it's told on the
end of page 2 and beginning of page 3 of the readme:

If you modify your copy or copies of the program or any portion of it,
or develop a program based upon it, you may distribute the resulting
work provided you do so under the GNU General Public License. Any
translation of the GNU General Public License must be accompanied by the
GNU General Public License.

As someone said the Docs (page 4 of the readme) are shared with a
different, noncommercial license.

Re: [NTG-context] completecontent, completeindex

2006-08-09 Thread Miguel Queiros

If you use \completecontent or \completeindex, how do you manipulate
 the heads of these constructs?

Can I change the text of the header, Contents to Table of Contents?

I'v done that using:

\setupheadtext[pt][content=Índice]

That will change the header, for Portuguese, notice the [pt].

You can do something similar for the List of Figures and the List of
tables using:

\setupheadtext[pt][figures=Lista de Figuras]
\setupheadtext[pt][tables=Lista de Tabelas]

 Can I change the color?

You can change the color of your chapters, sections etc.
Try using the following:

\setuphead[chapter][color=darkblue]
\setuphead[section][color=darkblue]
\setuphead[subsection][color=darkblue]
\setuphead[subject][color=darkblue]
\setuphead[subsubject][color=darkblue]

Don't forget \setupcolors[state=start]

Re: [NTG-context] several questions

2006-07-30 Thread Miguel Queiros

I have some questions for you. Please help me:

 1. Did you know a way to make a list of tables (natural tables \bTable
\eTable)? For the Figures it is very easy:

 \placelist[figure][alternative=c,aligntitle=no,width=4em]

 but

 \placelist[table][alternative=c,aligntitle=no,width=4em]

   d'ont works

For figures and tables I used
\completelistoffigures
 and
\completelistoftables . Will it work for you ?

 3. In the top of my file I use \language[pt], but it d'ont work. For
example, in the figure caption I have Figure but I need Figura and
 so on

You should use \mainlanguage[pt] as someone already mentioned.

You might also need to know the following, as I'v had the need
to use it already. As far as I remember \setuplabeltext
was used in the to change the word see in index (O Indice
Remissivo em Portugues). The other ones I believe are easy to
understand.

\setupheadtext[pt][content=Índice]
\setupheadtext[pt][figures=Lista de Figuras]
\setupheadtext[pt][tables=Lista de Tabelas]
\setupheadtext[pt][index=Índice Remissivo]
\setuplabeltext[pt][see=ver ]

This doesn't answer your original question, but why not
 \setuppagenumbering[location={footer,right},style=\tfx]
 instead of lengthy setups?

I will take a look at your sugestion. Thanks. As far as I
recall page numbering isn't working with setups because I
get two page numbers on every page.

(Btw: you should better use \switchtobodyfont rather than
\setupbodyfont in case you need to change font size.)

Ok!

The following solution might not be the most elegant one, but I use
 similar approach for exact positioning:

 \setuppagenumbering[location=]
 \definelayer
 [mypagenumber]
 [width=\paperwidth,
  height=\paperheight]
 \setupbackgrounds
 [page]
 [background=mypagenumber]
 \setlayerframed
 [mypagenumber]
 [voffset=\dimexpr(\paperheight-\makeupheight-\footerheight),
  preset=leftbottom]
 [width=\paperwidth,frame=off]
 {\tfx\pagenumber}

I'v tried it and I get a page number but only on one page, not all

Hello Peter,

\start ... \stop mark the boundaries of the local (layout) setup, which
is defined between \startlocal ... \stoplocal. This way you don't need

ConTeXt returns to the prior layout automatically.

Re: [NTG-context] beginners manual - Install

2005-11-23 Thread Miguel Queiros
Hi!

I'm going to clean up the beginners manual (at least the source code) so
i think this s a good moment to pick up the 'translation' thread

 So the question is:

 - what can go out
 - what should go in
 - what should be updated

 as well as:

 - who will participate (in translation)
 - how to deal with localization (maybe dedicated language related chapters)

As a beginner myself and typesetting in Portuguese I can tell
you what I had troubles with:

- mainlanguage
- Special characters as º (\ordmasculine and stuff like that).

And maybe not in the beginners manual but I think there
should be an updated manual about how to install context.

I'm still using a context version from 2004.08 as it is the
only one it worked for me. I downloaded as far as I remember
the file mswincontext.zip , the stand alone version of
context, but the newer versions need Perl and Ruby to
be installed.

By the way... Are there any sugestions on the installation
of Ruby and Perl on windows ?

I think there should be some instructions
on how to install mswincontex.zip on any system, because the
dificulty in installing Context might drive some users away.

Anyway... Context is great ! I'm now typesetting my first
document with it. :)
