[NTG-context] NEWS: pdf output problem
hi list, i have followed the discussion about the strage bug i found. hope that helps.
The xdvi display is more or less useless because i dont see text inside
the boxes. BUT i can use the lens to read it :).

I tried to reproduce your faulty behaviour on a WindowsXP machine with the
TeX Collection 2003 and the latest beta of ConTeXt installed.
1. The resulting pdf does not miss the 1 from \text {DB freigeben
;\\ return 1;\\}
2. The resulting dvi file, viewed with windvi has correct text typeset, but
there are no shapes drawn.
Interestingly the file you have in the .tar does show the 1 in Acrobat 5 and 6!
Windvi is not able to display the charts correctly, the text is typeset to
expectation, no shapes are drawn.
Do you work on a Linux box?
Which version of PDFTeX do you use?
Which version of ConTeXt do zou use?

[NTG-context] pdf output problem
Hi list,
i found some strange effect with the Chart environment.
This is part of a larger flowchart.
\startFLOWcell
\location {1,6}
\name {end-auftrag}
\shape {5}
\text {DB freigeben ;\\ return 1;\\}
\stopFLOWcell
$ texexec --output=test --pdf modem.tex
The resulting pdf file is missing the 1 from
\text {DB freigeben ;\\ return 1;}
changing 1 into 0 shows a 0.
if i produce a dvi instead it works fine.
any ideas ?

ps: dvi has its own problem by writing the text and then filling the area :)

Hi patrick, just to explain WHY i got confused. I was looking at knuth.tex as a simple example. An *this* example contains no \startX or \stopX . So i got the impression that contex may not need them. And when you see the examples in "typesetting flow charts" no hint either. It would enought to add \starttext \FLOWchart[grid] \stoptext on page 2. thanks for the hint with te_cont i was looking for *tex* so i never found anything.
So, i have installed all missing packets and the sample works fine.
Then i tried the first example from "typsetting flow charts".

What is the mentioned "testmode" ? where i can see grid ?
the second example is the definition of a cell but i am unable to create any output
because:
no legal \end found
but where ? the examples contain no end (in the sense
\begin{} \end{} )
Can i download the examples somewhere ?

There is no 'texexec':(

ok i have created a texexec
#!/bin/sh
perl $(kpsewhich -progname=context -format='other text files' texexec.pl) ${1+"$@"}
that fails with
sh: line 1: pdfetex: command not found
google tells me pdfetex is something like pdftex (what i have installed)
can i use that ?

Try
kpsewhich -progname=context -format='other text files' texexec.pl
there is this PERL file.
(Besides: If you have a newer teTeX you should already have a
/usr/bin/texexec (which is a shell script that basically calls
perl `kpsewhich -progname=context -format='other text files' texexec.pl` \
${1+"$@"}
)
