[NTG-context] Seeindex with zie instead of see?

Hi ConTeXt users,

Wondering whether there is a possibility to modify the word 'see' into the
Dutch word 'zie' in the use of the \seeindex command?

With older versions of ConTeXt (including that in TL18) seeindex

Digby, John 73
Dilbert see Adams, Scott
Dirac, Paul 287

where the second part is a literal repeat of what is in the second
argument of seeindex. (It is not, however, linked to the plussed entry

(2018.07.27 19:12) generates a result like:

Digby, John 73
Dilbert
Dirac, Paul 287

along with the warning:

Surely it is better to display the non-linked see entry as before
(together with the warning message so that the non-linking is pointed
out) and have a printable document than it is to display an empty entry!

This has been reported before...

BTW, how should cat+Siamese be formatted?

cat 1
  Burmese 1
  obese, see Siamese

or

cat 1

Clearly the second case would be needed for
\seeindex{pet+obese}{cat+Siamese}
with

pet
  obese, see cat, Siamese

Hans,

This does not do anything different, and in particular it does not
create a link.

Perhaps this new example better illustrates the problem:

   \setupinteraction[state=start]
   \setupregister[index][n=1]
   \setuppapersize[A7]
   \starttext

   \type{Dilbert} should be a link to the second-level on page~3 (or
   perhaps to the top level on page~2) in this example.

   \type{Dilbert} is \type{Adams+Scott} and \type{Catbert} is
   \type{Adams{+}Scott}. They link nowhere. \type{Dogbert} is
   \type{Adams}, which links to page~2.

[NTG-context] seeindex: no indent (random pattern?)

2013-01-17 Thread Andreas Mang
Hi there,

I have a problem with my index. There randomly (at least I do not see a
pattern) is a missing indent in front of the words referenced by seeindex.
Unfortunatelly, I cannot reproduce this nor do I see any pattern, as for why
this problem exists.

Is someone having the same issue, and if so, could this person point me to the
reason so that I / someone can do something about it?!

Minimal WORKING( - i.e. gives the desired output; it's there to explain my
problem) example below.

Cheers,
Andreas

I know that I am not supposed to ask questions like this, but this bothers me
for quite a while now. I thought that I will discover the problem (a pattern)
at some point, but I give up.

\starttext
\index{IBVP}
\seeindex{Initial Boundary Value Problem}{IBVP}
\placeindex
\stoptext

I would expect:

Initial Boundary Value Problem
[  ]see IBVP

where [ ] represents the indent.

However, at some places in my index I get:

Initial Boundary Value Problem
see IBVP

With a simple change of the string type in strc-reg.mkiv you can also use

\def\strc_registers_insert_see_indeed#1#2#3#4% register key entry seeword

MkIV provides a new mechanism to format index entries called processors, it

this to work with preprocessors. Am I doing something wrong?

If you do not have the time to look into this right now never mind.

Sorry for the hassle.

[NTG-context] seeindex: accents and such

2012-07-11 Thread Andreas Mang
Dear all,

I have some minor problems with \seeindex

It seems that it does not render accents properly nor is it possible to
introduce commands. Is this an intended behavior, am I doing something wrong or
is there a bug?

Cheers,
Andreas

Minimal example:

\setupregister[index]
[
style={\bf\WORD},
balance=yes
]

\starttext

% seeindex does not render ssharp properly
Wei{\ssharp}wurst\index{Wei{\ssharp}wurst}\seeindex{German
sausage}{Wei{\ssharp}wurst}

% same holds for accents
M\unchner Wei{\ssharp}bier\index{M\unchner Wei{\ssharp}bier}\seeindex{good
beer}{M\unchner Wei{\ssharp}bier}

% switching font style
{\sc Test}\index[Test]{\sc Test}\seeindex[Test]{Testing}{\sc Test}

Why don’t you use “ü” and “ß” in your document?

Re: [NTG-context] seeindex: accents and such

2012-07-11 Thread Andreas Mang
Hi Wolfgang,

Thanks. That's truly an option. I have already looked into this and it works.
As a matter of fact, this is what I decided to do if there is no quick fix.
However, I thought I'd point it out, since it works for \index and just not for
\seeindex. Secondly, the \sc (command) issue persists.

Thirdly, once upon a time I have opened my tex files on a foreign machine and I
realized that all accents were screwed. This was the day when I decided to
become even more paranoid and by that not to use ü and friends in my source
files. Maybe I should stop being paranoid, since all people around me seem to
be using accents...

Cheers,
Andreas

2010-10-07 Thread Hans Hagen

On 5-10-2010 5:17, Alan BRASLAU wrote:

Wishlist: add interaction to \seeindex

Explaination:

\seeindex{index_entry}{see_entry}
can be used to add entry to an index
that refers one to another entry.
Example: \seeindex{DNA}{deoxyribonucleic acid}

With \setupinteraction [state=start]
one gets active hyperlinks on the page numbers
of the index entries.
It would be nice if \seeindex entries to
the index would create an interaction hyperlink
to the corresponding real index entry.

This is pretty straight-forward, but probably
non-trivial to implement, as there is no guarantee
that the second entry of \seeindex indeed exists.
Of course, \seeindex could create this entry,
but it may not have an associated page number
or page numbers if \index{deoxyribonucleic acid}
was never called.

I can have a look at it ... as all data lives at the lua end it's easy
to identify the tobeseen word but it would take some extra housekeeping
to keep track of where that word ends up in the index (so that word
actually becomes a reference) ... it's rather easy to implement, but
less easy not to mess up the code to the level that 10 years from now no
one understands why it's there

(I should also port the linked index entries in interactive documents: a
linked list of hyperlinks that steps you through the 20 pages that
discuss deoxyribonucleic acid.)

Even more sophisticated, but the bookkeeping on this
might get a bit complicated, \index{DNA} could
create an index entry under {deoxyribonucleic acid}
as \seeindex instructs to hijack this label.

(currently, it will put see DNA followed by a page number.)

if have no time to keep up with / test / etc all those distributions
and since norbert does a pretty good job in updating the tex packages
used in all debian derivates i expect fixes to show up eventually

Hans
Okay. Can you forward this message else (if nobert is not subscribed to

hm, strc-reg.mkii has

{#1\ifcase\currententrylevel\s!entrya\or\s!entryb\or\s!entryc\else\s!entryd\fi}%

maybe you have a bugged version (core-reg.tex can also contain that code)

anyhow, replace the first \else by \or
