Bug or feature? scaling is not defined at that lvel, but with \definefont[somename][Courier sa 0.9] cum suis; what you're looking for is 'rscale': \definetypeface . The proper way to do the scaling is \definetypeface [MyAGaramond] [tt] [mono] [agaramondsemi] [default] [rscale=0.9,encoding=texnansi] Sorry for the noise.
