[NTG-context] Available fonts and using them

2009-05-26 Thread richard . stephens

Hello all,

I have read many of the documents from the Wiki on using fonts, but I am
still not sure of one or two, probably obvious, things:

1) I'm being asked to use Arial font (not my choice!) and I see from
searching the context tree that there are .afm files, .tfm files and .map
files with 'arial' in the name. Does this mean I can use Arial out of the
box? If so, how? I've tried putting \setupbodyfont[arial,10pt] in my
environment file, but it does nothing. I've tried various other things as
well, copied but only half understood, from the other documents, but none
of them work either! I could follow the guide on installing a new font, but
if it's already available then I'd rather not!

2) How do I find out what fonts are available out of the box and how do I
invoke them?

Thanks,

Richard.

P.S. I'm using mkii -- one day I'll get around to setting up mkiv, but not
today!

[NTG-context] Available fonts

2007-02-04 Thread Idris Samawi Hamid
Dear gang,

Is there a list somewhere of the immediately available fonts in ConTeXt?
showfont.pdf has a few; is there an updated list of available fonts and
how to access them?

Best
Idris

depends on what is installed ... just look at type-syn and type-enc

extra fonts may be defined in type-buy and type-ghz and files on the wiki

Hi Idris,
Yes indeed there sould be a file to test the built-in fonts.
Recently I was working on that. The file is in the meantime sent to
Hans, so that he can give me advice how to finalize it.- May be within
short notice we will have a demo file.
That sounds like great news; looking forward to it!

[NTG-context] Available fonts

2005-03-20 Thread ishamid
Dear crew,

Is there a list of prepackaged fonts/typescripts that comes with
(fp/MiK/gw/te)TeX/ConTeXt? I think it is important for that info to be made
very public. showfonts.pdf has at least some of them (plus a couple of
non-free ones) but I don't know if this is an exhaustive set. A new ConTeXt
user (especially one from a non-TeX background) should be able to easily find
a list of the fonts/typescripts available in a full
(fp/MiK/gw/te)TeX/ConTeXt system.

If I am totally clueless and missed this info, then I apologize:-)

Best
Idris
