Many thanks for all the fixes, Hans.

I have always thought that adding anything to an element in before would
cause to have it after the element.

But it seems that I was wrong.

[NTG-context] setupinterlinespace in \startquotation\stopquotation

2013-03-24 Thread Alan BRASLAU
Hello,

It can be quite common to typeset long quotations in a smaller typeface.
The following minimal example is somewhat problematic:

--
\setupquotation [style=\tfx\setupinterlinespace]

\starttext

\startquotation
\input tufte

\input tufte

\input tufte
\stopquotation

\stoptext
--

The interline spacing is wrong for the last paragraph.

Adding a \par in the input before \stopquotation
puts the right quotation closing mark on a newline.

I suppose that the common practice is *not* to use explicit quotation
marks when typesetting such long quotations in smaller typeface. In
this case, setting left=,right= and explicitly putting a \par would
work. However, if one wants to have quotation marks, this is no good.
And placing an explicit \par is not very elegant, either.

Nor does it seem that \switchtobodyfont[] does any better.

Maybe the solution is simple but I have not found it...

Alan

[NTG-context] setupinterlinespace top and height relations

2012-04-02 Thread Eidenbenz Michael
hi all,

As a grid system fetishist, I would like to align the top of my first line
with the top of the layout frame.
Using try and error (still a context newbie) I managed this by
"\setupinterlinespace [height=.5, top=.7]".

this seems strange to me, because i was expecting that the argument top is the
only one that controls \topskip.

Is there a graphic that shows the relation between the arguments of
setupinterlinespace?

Do you have a real example, when you have problems like in your image you
should change the height/depth ratio or increase the interlinespace.

[NTG-context] setupinterlinespace (exact setting, smaller than 1.0)

2012-03-17 Thread Honza Hejzl
Hello,

I am struggling with this for a very long time. I wish to know if there is
any sure way how to work with setupinterlinespace when I am setting ON
GRID. When bodyfont is, for my example, 9pt and I set up the interlinespace
to 10.8 (i.e. 1.0 – small), there are strange line breaks in pages
everywhere (as soon as the command \setupinterlinespace is used, doesn't
matter how big the number of line is, the text is broken in that way
(expecially when I am trying to use smaller distances). I need working on
grid with the possibility to reach exact interlinespace (typically to be
able to make linespacing tighter) – my editor has often very strict demands
for the page range. The once result is the grid is tighter but the lines
are not.

According to my tests I think there is no possibility to set smaller
interlinespace than 1.0, is it?

Any ideas, please?

Here is the result:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4393365/interlinespace.png

bodyfont 9pt
interlinespace 10.8 (for test)

Thanks, Honza

Wolfgang, thank you very much again! That indeed works.

I settled with `\setstrut \strut` as in the example in the Wiki page
»Simple Cover Page« [3].

Although I do get different line spaces when `\setstrut` is left out,
which I also do not understand.

Now I am having a title consisting of more than one line and I noticed
the space between those lines seems to be too small. Trying to increase
the space using `\setupinterlinespace` [2] it did not work. I had to use
`\blank` in between. Is that expected? Is it documented somewhere when
`setupinterlinespace` has no effect?

Please find my tests attached.

Thanks,

Thanks for the explanation, I didn't know that the scale factor is ignored in
the bibliography intentionally.

You have to make a distinction between a absolute and a relative value for the
interlinespace.

With \setupinterlinespace[line=12pt] you set a fixed value of “12pt” for the
distance between lines while \setupinterlinespace[big] use these value and
multiplies it by the factor “1.5”. When you place a register (e.g. your
bibliography) context goes back to the fixed value for the interlinespace and
the factor is ignored. When you want the bigger linedistance for your whole
document change the absolute value to 4.2ex (the default value from context is
2.8 multiplied by 1.5 from big).

Wolfgang,

thanks for pointing me into the right direction. This did not work at first
ether but it was my fault. I had \setupinterlinespace[big] before
\setupbodyfont. This will reset the interlinespace. However,
\setupinterlinespace[line=1.7em] before \setupbodyfont works.

Still, \setupinterlinespace[big] does not change anything in the publication
list.

> Can you make a example.

Please see attached files. Apart from the wrong interline spacing in the
references section, there is also a missing citation (ELECTRONIC: hh2010).

Best,
Florian

\startproduct

\environment env_draft

\setupinterlinespace % can be moved to the environment file

Can you make a example.

BTW: \startproduct takes the filename as argument, please add it.

Hi Florian,

can I interest you in some columnsets?

··8<·

\definecolumnset[three][n=3]
\starttext
\startcolumnset[three]
\setupinterlinespace[small]
\input knuth
\column
\setupinterlinespace[medium]
\input knuth
\column
\setupinterlinespace[big]
\input knuth
\stopcolumnset
\stoptext

··8<·

This should get you even columns.

(Btw, there’s also “\setuplocalinterlinespace” which behaves the
same as “\setupinterlinespace” except for some magic it does to
selected dimensions, see spac-ver.mkiv.)

Regards, Philipp

Hmm, does not seem to work here. I have following setup:

\environment env_draft % <-- setting \setupinterlinespace[big] here
\startproduct
%\setupinterlinespace[big] % works except for references when uncommented
\input chapters
\usepublications[publications]
\placepublications
\stopproduct

\placepublications seems to reset linespacing as well.

Setting \setupinterlinespace[line=1.7em] works throughout the document.

\setupinterlinespace is reset with \starttext, when you don’t like
setup-commands after \starttext use \startproduct.

Why can't I put \setupinterlinespace[3] or \setupinterlinespace[big] in the

[NTG-context] \setupinterlinespace questions

2011-01-10 Thread Florian Wobbe
Hi,

a) this minimal example does not work as expected. The first column is not
justified correctly on top. This does not change, even when swapping small,
big, medium (e.g. make 1st col medium and 2nd small). The offset stays the same
regardless of the linespacing.

\starttext
\startcolumns[n=3]
\setupinterlinespace[small]
\input knuth
\column
\setupinterlinespace[medium]
\input knuth
\column
\setupinterlinespace[big]
\input knuth
\stopcolumns
\stoptext

b) Is there a possibility to use relative sizes like
\setupinterlinespace[2*big] (which does not work)?

yes. It works. Thanks.

i think my mistake was: 1.1ex;

\setupinterlinespace[line=2.5ex] is what i want.

\setupinterlinespace[line=3ex] works as i expect it in a table.

Hi all,

In single file the "\setupinterlinespace[big]" don't work when it
placed in front of the "\starttext".

The example:
\setupinterlinespace[big]
\starttext
\input Knuth
\stoptext
