Dear Wolfgang,

I found that the previous run “mtxrun - script font…” cheked the fonts for 
TeXLive 2017.
So I run “setuptex” for ConTeXt standalone and run “mtxrun” again.
After that I compiled the same file.
The result is that \tt works as Nanum Gothic Coding but \ss still not working.
“Nanum Gothic” file was not found yet.

I am using Mac OSX 10.13 and latest beta.

Hi Jeong,

as far as I can remember, I experienced a similar problem with these
fonts. I needed the first option to get the fonts embedded in the PDF
document.

Go to tex/texmf-cache and remove the directory luatex-cache.

Run "mtxrun --generate" and compile the sample again.

If that doesn’t work, try to copy those fonts to tex/texmf-fonts (and
reload fonts with mxtrun)..

Dear Wolfgang,

Two months ago, you suggested an example for typefile with korean. I just read 
it at that time and I try your sample today. 
Although there are Nanum Gothic and Nanum Gothic Coding in my system font, no 
output of korean for \ss and \tt.
I run ‘mtxrun —script font —reload —force
in the terminal, but the output is same. In the log file, it reads that 

selectfont  > The requested fallback font 'Nanum Gothic' for typeface 
'mainface' style 'ss' was ignored because no files where found.
selectfont  > The requested fallback font ‘Nanum Gothic Coding' for 
typeface 'mainface' style 'tt' was ignored because no files where found.


Why ConTeXt couldn’t locate the font files?

I am using Mac OSX 10.13 and latest beta.

Dear Wim,

There were a lot of discussions during the night.

For the use CJK, I think that Wolfgang’s example is good enough(Nanum fonts are 
free).
Here is another simple way.
In 2012, Hans included a typescript file for Un Fonts, you can use it just do 
“\setupbodyfont”.
The good thing is you can handle Korean, Chinese, and Japanese together.
I heard that Unfonts are included in TeXLive. If not, you can downloaded it.

I hope that you have no problem to compile the follwoing code.

Thanks for all your input and help, but as said before I don't have the
time to upgrade and than to discover existing things don't work
resulting in a complete new thread to debug these existing things and/or
fix with a new beta installation.

But that is perhaps not my biggest concern with all these beta releases,
ConText is great and for the most part easy to use, I am more worried that
my existing ConText environment (setup) becomes broken, and/or resulting in
complete different PDF output.
I have no way of knowing, apart from visually inspecting a lot of pages of
PDF.

I thought including some code examples via \typefile (with a bit of text in
either Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese or Korean)
could be achieved with a simple local font switch, or setting a regime or
via \setuptyping but not on a global level
with \definefontsynonym, definefontfallback etc.

My fix is to change the examples a bit and continue.

So no, I cannot update at the moment.
It is not necessary to update. You can have multiple separate ConTeXt 
installations on a single system.

Sorry, but I’m afraid that ConTeXt has beta releases almost every week
(when not every day).

Just in case it helps, I had to remove the luatex-cache directory and
run "mtxrun --generate", before I could use the new fonts (cache
reloading doesn’t work for me [even forcing it]).

I disagree, a version from 2016 is not very old. I have a lot of documents
using a ConText setup which works with this version
of luatex and context.

Last week I tried to use the latest beta with my documents and the beta was
unable to run my documents.
As it seems it is not backward compatible and I have no time at the moment
to debug or test.

So no, I cannot update at the moment.

You need fonts [1-3]  which contains hangul characters (don’t forget to 
set a math font because it is used for the symbols in enumerations) and 
you have to enable linebreaking for korean with the \setscript command.

if you mix scripts you need to either use font that has the glyphs or 
you have to create a bodyfint with a combination of fonts ... i'm pretty 
sure that the wiki explains this somewhere (fallbacks and such)

installed.
