On my Mac I use the PDF Browser Plugin by Manfred Schubert www.schubert-it.com That makes everything work right on the web for Mac. And the browser has personal as well as commercial licenses. On Ubuntu Linux things work fine on the web. I still run (and shall continue to run) Windows 98 for me
