November 11, 2015 Dear Parents/Guardians, The Toronto District School Board is currently involved in local negotiations with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation<http://www.osstfd12.com/> (OSSTF), which represents secondary teachers. As of November 4, 2015, OSSTF began a selected withdrawal of services. As part of that selected withdrawal of services, the union directed that teachers: * WILL upload as per their normal practice all marks and attendance records. * Teachers WILL NOT provide Learning Skills or Comments for report cards. Report cards are scheduled to be sent home on 20 November, 2015. Depending on the method by which your child's teachers uploaded their marks, the Learning Skills and Comments section of the report card may be different from class to class. For some subjects the space may be left blank while others may include a generic comment (e.g. "There are no comments at this time.") and a learning skill mark of "Satisfactory" as a placeholder. As a result of the withdrawal of services, the parent/teacher interviews currently scheduled for 26 November, 2015 will be modified. Parent/guardian-teacher interviews will take place tentatively on 26, November, 2015 in the afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Periods will be shortened and we will run an abbreviated instructional day. Parents/guardians are encouraged to contact teachers directly to discuss the progress of their child. We will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and are committed to doing everything possible to ensure the integrity of the learning day. Thank you for your understanding.
