Support NT's Charity Week Raffle Ticket sales!
Tickets will be on sale until Thursday March 1 for our NTCI Charity Raffle in 
support of Horizons for Youth, a shelter for at-risk and homeless youth aged 
16-24 in Toronto.  There are two categories of prizes:  Food & Beverage (16 
prize packages) or Retail, Wellness & Entertainment (22 prize packages).  All 
prizes have been generously donated by local businesses.

Upcoming Events


Our next school council meeting will be held on Monday February 26 at 7:30 pm 
in room 215.
Guest speaker topic:  Exploitation of Youth and Human Trafficking in Our City, 
What Parents Need to Know
Please join us for an eye opening information session on how students are being 
exploited, what human trafficking looks like in Toronto, the emerging trends, 
and things parents should look out for at home.
Detective Sergeant Nunzio Tramontozzi, Sex Crimes - Human Trafficking 
Enforcement Team, will share his knowledge and experience with human 
trafficking in our city, what makes children vulnerable, and what we as parents 
can do.

As mentioned at our exhibition of the film Screenagers, the Rosedale United 
Church is hosting a (free) screening of Screenagers on March 1st, to which they 
have extended an invitation to our community.

So, for those who missed our joint screening of Screenagers, or (want to see it

Key topics to be discussed:  planning, capital and 2018-2019 operating budget
As the Yonge-Eglinton community continues to grow and intensify, accommodation 
pressures emerge at local public schools when faced with increasing student 
enrolment.  Information will be shared on how this rapid rate of growth is 
impacting public schools in the community.  Come to learn about updated 
enrolment and demographic information, the impact of residential 
intensification on local schools and studies in the Board's Long-Term Program 
and Accommodation Strategy to address these challenges.
New Invitation from Trustee Shelley Laskin

Forest Hill Public School presents: The T.A.S.A.M. Program - Tackling Anxiety 
and Stress through Arts and Mindfulness on Thursday, March 8th, from 6:00 
pm-8:00 pm.
Using a creative arts approach to education, Arts Express has developed The 
T.A.S.A.M. Program to provide children and their parents with lifelong 
strategies and techniques to cope with anxiety and stress, helping them 
effectively eliminate the stigma and discomfort of these issues for years to 
come. Parents can join us in the evening for a presentation by Child and Youth 
Counsellor and mental health advocate Jennifer Kay to discuss childhood 
anxiety, parental intervention and how to help your child create the tools 
needed for a lifetime of wellness.
The topics that will be addressed by this program will include:
* Identifying the seriousness of your child's anxiety and stress levels
* Tools to use to help alleviate minor everyday anxieties and stress
* Kid-friendly approach to developing useful strategies
* Leading by example
* The importance of exercise
* Communicating with your anxious child without frustration
* Developing a safe structure within the home environment
* Knowing when to seek professional help

Friday March 30 - Monday April 2 - Easter holiday (no classes)
Tuesday April 3 - classes resume

Tuesday April 10 - Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT); mandatory 
literacy test for all Grade 10 students and any previously eligible students 
who still need to obtain the diploma requirement.
