Forest Hill Public School presents: The T.A.S.A.M. Program - Tackling Anxiety 
and Stress through Arts and Mindfulness on Thursday, March 8th, from 6:00 
pm-8:00 pm.
Using a creative arts approach to education, Arts Express has developed The 
T.A.S.A.M. Program to provide children and their parents with lifelong 
strategies and techniques to cope with anxiety and stress, helping them 
effectively eliminate the stigma and discomfort of these issues for years to 
come. Parents can join us in the evening for a presentation by Child and Youth 
Counsellor and mental health advocate Jennifer Kay to discuss childhood 
anxiety, parental intervention and how to help your child create the tools 
needed for a lifetime of wellness.
The topics that will be addressed by this program will include:
* Identifying the seriousness of your child's anxiety and stress levels
* Tools to use to help alleviate minor everyday anxieties and stress
* Kid-friendly approach to developing useful strategies
* Leading by example
* The importance of exercise
* Communicating with your anxious child without frustration
* Developing a safe structure within the home environment
* Knowing when to seek professional help

Public Safety Alert
Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area, Street robberies

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a recent 
series of street robberies within a one kilometer radius of Yonge Street and 
Eglinton Avenue.  Since Wednesday, January 17, 2018, there have been 11 
reported street robberies.
These incidents are mostly swarming-type robberies involving teenagers, in 
which a group of people approach the victims and demand personal property, 
including cell phones, clothing and money. In several incidents, an edged 
weapon was produced during the demands.  Toronto Police Service is requesting 
the public be vigilant in the area. Police are also requesting anyone who is a 
victim or witness to this this type of incident to contact police.
Secondary school students should be reminded to:
* travel with at least one other person whenever possible
* avoid taking shortcuts through parks and fields
* walk in well-lit and well-travelled areas
* keep valuables such as cell phones, expensive jewellery, laptops and personal 
music devices (iPod,
M3P players) out of sight as much as possible when in public places
* be aware of suspicious behaviour and try to remember what the person or car 
looked like so it can
be reported to school staff, parents or the police if necessary (plate numbers 
can be written in the
dirt or snow if nothing else is available)
* be aware and alert; don't be distracted--never text and walk or wear 
headphones or ear buds to play
loud music
* keep money hidden
* always carry identification.

Student Immunization Update
Parents are reminded that they are responsible for updating student 
immunization records with Toronto Public Health.  If you child requires a 
vaccine or an updated immunization record, you would have already been 
contacted via post with three information letters from Toronto Public Health 
(mailed on Nov. 30/17, Feb. 1/18 & Mar. 1/18).  Students must submit updated 
information to Toronto Public Health by Mar. 29/18 or they will face a school 
suspension until their health records are updated.  If you have any questions 
or concerns, please contact Toronto Public Health directly at 416-338-8460.

March 12-16 - March break (no classes)
March 19 - classes resume

Friday March 30 - Monday April 2 - Easter holiday (no classes)
Tuesday April 3 - classes resume
