Thanks a ton guys.
Frank, what do you refer to when saying "steel kernels"?

We just finished an anamorphic show and overall it's not that much
different. And the images look beautiful :)!
- It's good to estimate more time for tracking, even if it's 2d tracking.
Simple things like tracking a piece of footage to a nodal pan might end up
taking lots and lots of time due to

Sorry to nitpick, Frank but this isn’t correct. Actually the opposite is true.
Anamorphic lenses
wow, that was my dyslexia in full swing. I meant to say you can even
steal kernel shapes from a plate to use in custom convolve nodes. :-D

Fair enough, thanks for clarifying.
Intuitively this is what my experience is though (and even what many
DOPs will state as reasons to shoot anamoprhic).
But yeah, good to have a proper breakdown, thanks.

I would try a masked transform first depending on angle of view.
Kind of depends on the camera angle as to what will work best.

Im working on 2k anamorphic and its great fun. Certainly looks great.
I would highly recommend 3de for tracking As their lens models are great
and you can use in nuke via plugin.
Interesting about the cubic filter on transforms - I need to check that.
