Can you do at least a link via expression, while you Manage User Knobs for the
Values you need to clone. Maybe this workaround could help.

Yeah, I think expression linking could help me out.
Ok, so lets say I have 30 options for say the colour of something, I am
creating the colours and using a switch node to pick between the different
colours.
Now lets say i need to use these colours on multiple parts of my script,
Try following option
Double Click your group
Right click in Properties Bin on the blank space right of Node Tab
Manage User Knobs
Pick
and then pick the Node and Value like color from within your group
Now you don´t have to enter your group to change values and can link this to
another group

The above 2 replies are great ideas, I'm thinking I could group all my colours
and the group have access to each nob where I set the colour and also to the
switch and then link these with expressions.
The only issue I am thinking is to be able to control the switch nodes within
the group I
