Fixing the bug is was I am trying to do :) But I'm not sure how it is
supposed to work then, I would go with doing the less unintuitive thing.
So, keeping the current implementation of using project configuration, when
exactly should a project be excluded? I would say when:

Hi Simone,
Well, I told you this one was non-trivial. :-)
I've been aware of the issue but it seemed like a significant effort
to make the change.
What's more, over the years that we have had this feature, nobody has
ever filed a
bug against it asking that we use solution configurations.
OTOH, i
Looking at the code I noticed the only configurations we are taking into
account are project configurations. This feature requires that we take
solution configurations into account, which don't necessarily map to
project configurations. The example is a bi contrived, so please bear
with me:

To make it work with the existing feature set, we should fall back to the first
platform. If we added platforms I can see a number of other areas that would
have to change as well, so doing things one step at a time seems better.

Should we simply fallback to the first platform (usually Any CPU), add another
command line switch to nunit-c

Outline of what's needed for this bug...
Currently, we read the solution file, find "Project" lines and pull the project
path out of the line. The code is inline in
VisualStudioConverter.cs.
In addition, we need to extract the guid from the project line and examine
entries for that project (key

Even though this is an odd context for using a solution file, NUnit
should still ignore disabled assemblies when loading a solution.
