I was talking with Tom Burke a little while who had been to Montauk Point
earlier in the day. He commented on the paucity of RAZORBILL at the point--I
believe his count was 8. So now we know where they went, and my guess is the
reason is a search for food.

Pt eastwards) and Staten Island have seen above or below normal numbers of
Razorbills today?

Yes, but they metabolize the foods they eat and formulate the pigments. The
paper that accompanies these photos is very interesting and explains much
about this mutation and how it affects the metabolic activity to end up with
a different color.

My Hermit Thrush was back again today feeding on the window feeder. I'm
surprised it's eating the mix b/c I think of them as fruit and insect eaters.
