Scheduling constraints brought me to the SYS site at mid-morning. Hot, sunny, humid, and Little League baseball combined to make for poor birding there. No Grosbeak; hardly surprising. It's to be noted that both of Hugh's sightings were later in the day. -- NYSbirds-L List Info:

Seen today at 11am, a first summer male and a female blue grosbeak. The birds were located along the main entrance road, from Grumman Blvd., at an easterly side road from which Buildings 705 (on the east) and 81 (on the west) are clearly visible. Both birds were seen flying between and

Hi, Angus, The first breeding bird atlas showed quite a few areas in Steuben County. On the second, I only found one colony which was on Wade Hill Road, near Jasper. I couldn't see any of the birds, but thought that I could hear about nine singing males. Some time after the second Breeding
