We spent some time in Bryant Park today from 2:30pm to 4:30pm amidst the large
crowds there for the holiday market and managed to find three of the four
rarities that folks have been looking for lately. Even with the heavy traffic
from the holiday market most of the birds didn't seem too
On the New York Botanical Garden bird walk today we witnessed a red tailed hawk
chasing an immature great horned owl. It was quite a scene for ears and eyes
as the hawk kept screeching at the top of its lungs pursuing the owl through
the forest. Finally the owl flew into a conifer and the hawk
Two RAZORBILLS (at least) were present in Jones Inlet during the early
afternoon. From the fisherman's parking lot, looking north toward the Loop
Parkway Bridge. I became aware of their presence when one was relatively
close, and drifted behind some Red-throated Loons I had been photographing.
A juvenile POMARINE JAEGER was seen well by Kevin McLaughlin from the Adam
Beck overlook (Ontario) at the power plants from 3:30 to 4:15.
Although not unprecedented, it is unusual to see jaegers way up in the
Niagara River. The Pomarine may be a first on the river well away from

It was initially observed on the north side of Coney Island Creek at:

It was eventually chased off by a few crows and settled on the south side of

My sister Barbara and I found a SNOWY OWL on Dune Road in Hampton
Bays. We first saw the owl from the parking lot under the Pongogue
Bridge in the dunes on the ocean side, somewhat east of the bridge.

morning on our final walk of this year. A lone Great Cormorant graced the
jetty,no eider about, a few Long Tailed Duck, still no Horned Grebe down
this way. A female Kestrel and 2 Harrier were scanning the marsh just

Thank you to those who have responded to previous requests for this season's
information. We have 34 circles listed right now, which is nice but a far
cry from the 61 we had last year.
The season starts in just about 10 days.but many of you have not yet

Twain JHS on Neptune Ave and West 24th Street. Possibly the same bird that has
