I drove to Smith Point Park( Suffolk County Long Island) today to renew my
permit to drive on the beach this year so as to do a little surf fishing
and birding ( the Ocean is beautiful along the beach) but they did not have
these 2012 permits ready yet, so last year's permits were still good.
After watching the "new" N.Y. Knickerbockers "lin-one", I ventured down to
Hampton Bays, stopping first at the H.B.Water Works, where I found one of the
ravens on the ground, toward the rear of the property, feeding on ? ( just
couldn't make out what those large mandibles were picking up). Th
After going to Pelham Bay Park today and viewing the Trump Plaza and Co-op City
from there I'm tending to agree with Richard that the Bronx ravens and the New
Rochelle ravens may be one in the same. I didn't realize how close the two
areas were to each other especially as the raven flies. I'm

A quick ride along Dune Road this morning yielded a first winter Iceland
Gull and a Great Egret feeding in the ditch along the north side of the road
west of Tiana Beach, and a couple of Boat-tailed Grackles around the old
Ponquogue Bridge parking area. One Common Raven was loudly announcing it
Tom Preston and his wife relocated the Lapland Lonspur on the cricket field at
Floyd Bennett Field. Currently being observed with Peter Dorosh, Mary Eyster
and Russ Alderson.
