about 10 minutes near the same area where Martin Carney saw the bird on

We recorded fifty-four species of birds during a morning of birding at SMSP,
including a good variety of waterfowl. Species of note included a Pine Warbler
and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (likely overwintering birds). The large group of
Great Egrets (as many as eighteen) present in the Park over
I spotted one Eurasian Widgeon at the Massapequa Reservoir (the pond
next to the LIRR station) and fourteen American Widgeon at the first
pond north of the reservoir, along with first of season Carolina Wren,
Northern Cardinal, Great Egret and others.

Today while on our weekly Thursday morning South Shore Audubon Society
bird survey at Hempstead Lake State Park. We found a Yellow-breasted
Chat just to the west of the north end of Macdonald pond. A Chat was
seen in the same area about 3-4 weeks ago.

While riding an LIRR train (Babylon line) into the city for work this morning
(around 8:45) I spotted an OSPREY flying north of the tracks, between
Wantagh Parkway and Bellmore station. At first glance I almost wrote it off as
another gull (plenty of Ring-billed and Herring seen during the
