I spent 6 1/2 hours today, May 9th, at Nickerson Beach, Nassau Co.
Highlights included:
Arctic Tern 1 (possibly 2) first summer
Gull Billed Tern 1 adult
Roseate Tern 1 (possibly 2) adults
Surf Scoter 1 adult male
I took photos of all the above mentioned species.

For those planning to go to Mecox Bay for the Phalaropes tomorrow...The
birds are visible from the eastern side of Mecox atop the dunes adjacent to
the northern part of the parking lot.
To get there you can take Mecox Road to Jobs Lane to Dune Road and go all
the way to the parking lot at the end.
Currently no sign of the Sandwich Tern but of course birds come and go at this
location.

afternoon, plus the continuing three Wilson's and one Red-necked Phalaropes.
