Today, between 1030 & 1315, Tom Moran and I birded the north end of the East Pond at JBWR. We saw neither the # of species, nor the the # of individuals that Andrew Baksh saw, but we did see our target birds, plus a specie which he didn't mention. There was a fair # of birds to check

Late this afternoon, I birded both the South and North End of the East Pond. There were a good number of shorebirds around indicating lots of birds arrived in the past few days. Leading the charge were *Short-billed Dowitchers* whose numbers were highest to date for the season as I estimated the

It's been two weeks of irregular visits to sterling forest since I've seen either of the Mississippi kites. Has anyone seen them? If not, any theories about what happened ? Is the female finally in the nest they seemed to be building, and the male out of sight? Or did they just up and leave?
