A Wood Sandpiper in Rhode Island was seen by multitudes of birders again, with
fairly frequent updates on the MassBirds list-serve, as well as Rhode Island's
and other states' birding list-serves and in other birding venues. At least a
half-dozen Cave Swallows were
Spurred by Daryl Cavallaro's reports of Vesper Sparrow in All Faith Cemetery in
Middle Village, Queens, during the past week, we went in the morning to try our
luck. While Alison was photographing birds in another area, I spotted not one,
but two, Vesper Sparrows perched on a gravestone!
On a City Island Birds walk today we were treated to a perched immature Bald
Eagle across the lagoon from the crewing platform at Orchard Beach. There was
also an adult Bald eagle flyover in the lagoon.
Other species:
Common Grackle (flyover of 300+)
American Goldfinch (few)
Great Blue Heron
Had some good looks at an juvenile Golden Eagle flying near Tillison Lake in
the town of Gardiner today.

I was write, there were atleast 30+ siskins in the flock, so I went and put
another feeder out. Of course most of them flew off but I hope they stick
around.

Just had a Pine Siskin at my birdbath. When I went out to fill the feeder a
minute ago I thought I heard more than one in the trees. Looks like it's going
to be a good season for them.
