[nysbirds-l] NYS Pelagic Waters: More Band-rumped Storm-Petrels

Yesterday John Shemilt, Derek Rogers and I were fishing well beyond the continental shelf, above the outermost portion of the Hudson Canyon. Birds were very few and far between but we did encounter 23 BAND-RUMPED STORM-PETRELS in 80-81 degree water. This was much farther out than our usual spots

[nysbirds-l] 7/10: Possible LITTLE GULL at jones beach CGS

I initially identified this bird as a Bonaparte's, but Michael McBrien thinks it's a strong candidate for a first year Little Gull, based on its small bill and short primary projection. It was on the sand bar but just took off and is circling over our heads. Scope pics were taken earlier.
