Late morning, I drove Sabattis Circle Road, and stopped at Shaw Pond on my
way home. Some of the species found:
Wood Duck - Shaw Pond
Amer. Black Duck - inlet of Round Lake
Ring-necked Duck - over 60 on Shaw Pond
Betsy Potter and I led the BOS field trip today in eastern Niagara and
western Orleans counties. It was a fun group that started with 19 people.
Our first stop was Barker Bicentennial Park where we watched the lake for an
hour and a half. Part of that time was also spent along the road, watching
Great spot for ducks, also very scenic with the foliage. Seen today within
a half hour: Mallards, Black Duck, Gadwall, American Wigeon, Ring Necked,
Lesser Scaup, Shovelers, Hooded Mergansers, Coots, Pied Billed Grebes, Wood
Ducks (around the island)
Good birding,
Rob in Massapequa

junco, several Hermit Thrushes, and two young sapsuckers. Also some warbler
activity (at least two birds) in the high trees at the northwest
