Earlier today, I found two Cackling Geese among the 989 White-cheeked Geese
(Branta Canadensis) flock that had gathered on the Parade Grounds at Van
Cortlandt Park.
There were several small non Cackling candidates among the flock so exercise
caution when sorting through the Branta Canadensis

I caught sight of the TBMU at around 3:50 from 92 street pedestrian overpass

end of the pier, then floated inland to the area just south of the wastewater
treatment plant. It stuck around for a while then dove and we

If it continues along that breakwall the next point of easy access to
intercept it after the VN bridge would be Veterans Memorial Pier at Bay
Ridge Avenue and Shore Parkway.
Good luck

Gus Keri reported the THICK-BILLED MURRE passing Gravesend Bay Middle
Parking Lot at 2:30 p.m., heading toward the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. He
just updated at 3:00 p.m. -- it is passing under the Verrazano-Narrows
Bridge into New York Harbor.

Back to the murre for a moment: is it still being seen? would like to know
before paying for a cab ride out to see it. it’s definitely nice that there’s a
thick-biled murre that’s accessible to those of us without a car :)

I’m seriously considering paying the $95 for a 10-hour codfish trip aboard the
Laura Lee Express out of Captree. Half the price of a See Life trip. Two trips
each weekend through the end of March. Much more convenient for Suffolk birders
than Brooklyn. If memory serves from past cod trips

With all these murres, Razorbills, and kittiwakes hanging out right along the
coast this winter, it’s a real shame we lost the Brooklyn VI. I’d love to get
offshore and see what’s going on out there!

There is currently a Thick-billed Murre in Gravesend Bay, Brooklyn. It is
close to shore, swimming NW along the rim of the bay. I was viewing from
adjacent to the parking pulloff along the eastbound Belt Parkway just west
of (before) exit 5. It has covered a considerable amount of water heading

As reported, the Varied Thrush was seen today in the span of about five
minutes in the northern part of Clove Lakes Park around 10:55 am this

before it was lost flying to the south, losing height.
