Hello,
Just to clarify the phalarope is located at Jones Beach West End (JBWE --
Nassau County) NOT Jamaica Bay wildlife refuge (JBWR Queens County).
These near identical acronyms looked like they might pose a problem for some.
Hope this helps avoid navigation errors and wasted days-offs in

Re: CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR
This report from Sandy Hook, NJ just came through and I thought it would be of
interest to those checking regular coastal NY birding spots.

To follow up on Mike's email regarding spring arrival dates, I noticed that
Birdcast has arrival/departure information for each region. It's broken down
into four areas: beginning to arrive, arriving, peaking, departing. See url
below.
Very instructive and helpful!

I just received a NJ RBA email about a Swainsons's Hawk being seen 20 west of
NYC at the Montclair, NJ hawk watch.
No word on direction of flight or individual characteristics (age, relative
darkness of bird) but, as always, keep your eyes and the skies.

Tuesday afternoon, April 9, I visited High Rock Park and Clove Lakes Park.
After Monday's fantastic day of birding Clove Lakes Park only, I thought I
would head to High Rock Park in the middle of Staten Island's Greenbelt to see
what had arrived. It is also the most pristine natural area in SI.
