While driving along Ocean Parkway today, I found a road-kill long-eared owl along the side of the road near Gilgo Beach.. On closer inspection, I found it still had a mouse in it's talons. Poor guy was probably taking off with it's catch when it was hit. The bird was not in great shape for moun

Thursday afternoon, about 1500hrs: Saw 2 monk parakeets at Town of Hempstead Marina in Freeport (Guy Lombardo Marina???) at the end of Guy Lombardo Avenue. They were feeding on dandelion seed heads on the lawn near the main buildings. I have some poor photos if anyone is interested. Dick Cartwr

Spotted an adult bald eagle thru the blowing snow off of the Kings Park ramps on the Nissequogue River. It was about 3:15 on Sunday; the eagle was flying low over the water towards the ramps (east to west).   Dick Cartwright
