A 1st winter Black-headed Gull is currently loafing near the middle parking lot
off the Belt Parkway at Gravesend Bay in Brooklyn.

At noon we saw an adult Black-headed Gull visible from Owls Head park over
the water treatment facility. Later the bird was sitting on a railing at
Veteran's Memorial Pier. It then flew back to the water treatment plant.
A young Iceland Gull is still at Bush Terminal Park sitting out on the
rocks
It didn't make it to the list serve but yesterday's black-headed gull continues
and was reported on ebird today by multiple observers in Gravesend Bay along
the belt parkway between the Verrazano Bridge and 15 Ave exchange.

A fishing boat moved through flock and reshuffled gulls. As of 9:15 we could
not relocate bird but there are now about 200 Bonapartes feeding in the area.

Bobbi Manian and I have a black headed gull in a flock of 100 or so Bonapartes
at Norton point in Brooklyn. Flock is moving toward Coney Island Creek.

Rob Jett asked me to post that the recurring adult BHGU is on the Veteran's
Memorial Fishing Pier (Bay Ridge Avenue/69 Street and Shore Road) in Bay Ridge,
Brooklyn.

During an unsuccessful search for the adult Black-headed Gull this morning, I
found a first-winter BLACK-HEADED GULL on the same fishing pier that the adult
has been. It was not as windy today (15-20 mph instead of 25-30 mph) so I can't
say for certain the adult has refuted my extreme wind theor
What I am assuming is the same winter-plumaged adult BLACK-HEADED GULL I
reported back on November 10th was present again today at the Owl's Head
Wastewater Treatment Plant in Brooklyn. I was able to get a couple of bad

There was an immature Black-headed Gull at the Owl's Head Waste Water Treatment
Plant in Brooklyn around 10:45 a.m. this morning. After running a couple of
school errands, I am back trying to relocate. No luck yet.
