At about 8:00 this morning, I found a pair of female/immature type Evening Grosbeaks in the North End of Central Park. I wasn’t able to study wing details but they were drab birds. They flew off but could be heard vocalizing loudly from the vicinity of Lasker Pool, Loch, and the east facing side of the North Woods. This area is best accessed from the entrance at 110th street and Lenox Avenue. Walk south along the path that hugs the western edge of the Harlem Meer. My eBird checklist includes the exact location.
