The American Avocet was reported in the creek by Dreier Offerman around 10
a.m., but by the time we (Janet Zinn and Alan Baratz) got there around
11:30 a.m. the mud flats were no longer exposed and no sign of the bird. We
did see the Ross' Goose in with the Brant and Canada's in front of the school
across on the south side of the creek. Thankfully I had Heydi's post from
yesterday which said the bird was seen in the afternoon near Leon Kaiser
park, which you can actually see from the base of Dreier Offerman. We headed
over and within a few moments located the bird roosting along the beach.
We were able to get nice views of the bird, roosting alone on the beach,
from atop the dunes.

For those looking for the bird it would seem that it is in the creek by
Dreier Offerman at low tide, but once the tide rises and the mudflats
disappear it is definitely worth checking the beach area at Leon Kaiser park.
