Yesterday I posted news to the local birding community about the serious
intent by the Boy Scouts of American organization to sell the sizable Pouch
Camp which lies deep in the heart of the Staten Island Greenbelt (Richmond
County) (asking price 60 million, but a conservation easement for 30 million
 dollars)

A friend emailed me today the website that was set up and a petition on the
left sidebar . Please pass along to folks and people you know or write
letters. Pouch Camp is north of and adjacent to High Rock Park ; its demise
to development would seriously fragment and degrade the forest habitat within
the Greenbelt (the same situation that faced Sterling Forest years ago
before the state bought the central remaining tract) .Staten island Greenbelt
is a prime birding and natural wildlife area that I and my club visited
from time to time.More details on the following link.
