Both of our common large gull species, Herring and Great Black-backed, occasionally deviate from their usual dull pink legs to more or less yellow legs. Some examples of this phenomenon can be seen starting here:

Thanks for sharing. We haven't had any gull ID discussions on this list in quite a while. I think it's worth pointing out that herring gull-like birds showing yellow or yellowish legs are reported from our area from time to time and recall one that was discussed on this list from the Howard Beach
