Initially visible from the high sand hill just west of the sand path to Moriches Bay, 1/4 mile west of parking lot, a Glaucous Gull was seen this morning from 8 - 9AM. We lost sight of the walking gull, but were able to relocated it along the shoreline, just below the first 4-wheel drive access only campground. (You can get to that shoreline by walking through the campground, and proceeding down the embankment.)

The bird seemed to have a "bent" left leg, which caused it to limp - reminiscent of last fall and winter's Glaucous Gull observed by the Ferry Terminal in Orient Point. Photos were taken of the Cupsogue bird.

Because of more human and boat traffic in the area, we were unable to relocated the bird on our way out of visiting the mud flats - 1PM.
