A finely-plumed Great Egret plunked down in the small pond in Morningside Park
on Wed. morn’ - a number of neighborhood folk & passersby, including me & my
camera, were enjoying the sight there as I walked up. The exact site is off
Manhattan Ave.

There were 4 GREAT EGRETS in the marsh adjacent to the parking lot this
morning. The continuing OSPREY flew off just before I arrived.

A Great Egret continues for the last 4 days at the Stone Store Forest Wetland
on State Route 145, in Broome, Schoharie County, New York. Two Great Blue
Herons also flew in to this site while observing the Egret.

The subject birds were the highlights of the few hours I was out birding this
morning in Oswego County.
The GREAT EGRET was at the ponds at the golf course along Rt 49 in West Monroe
at 7:00 AM and was still present on my return at 11:00.
The WILSON’S SNIPE was in the roadside ditch along Toad

Today, I headed east on the South Fork, stopping at: Mecox Bay, Water Mill;
Sagg Pond, Saggaponack; Hook Pond, East Hampton and at some smaller spots
in between, with the only highlights being a Red Fox in Saggaponack, and my
FOS Great Egret at Hook Pond.
Yesterday, I forgot to mention the 4

Great Egrets migrating by day along the outer coast of Long Island, but
examination of my records reveals fewer specific instances than I expected. The

July 31 - At Wood Marsh and Patty 2 there were 5 Hooded Mergansers, 5
Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Caspian Terns, and 7 Great Egrets. The Great Egrets flew
east in the direction of the Great Blue Heron colony at the north edge of
Hunter's Marsh (or Wood Marsh east). Taking the long walk in, as I
