This morning between 7:30 and 8:40, a check of the parking lots and
medians at Robert Moses Fields 2, 3, and 5, Captree SP's boat basin and
upper lot, and Heckscher SP Fields 7 and 4 yielded only the
expected three big gulls, plus Laughing Gulls at Captree SP boat
basin lot (6), and Heckscher Field 4 (1). There were zero Lesser
Black-backed Gulls anywhere.

Two Greater Yellowlegs at Heckscher Field 7 were the only shorebirds
encountered. Great Black-backed Gulls made up the majority of the gulls
in this parking lot--I counted 87.

With the continuing rain, change in tides, Joaquin's influence and the
inevitable turnover of species, it will be interesting to see what else
eventually appears in these coastal parks.
