Arrived at about 11:00 to two birders walking out of the East Pond NW corner
reporting no Ruff. I proceeded to the Pond hoping it will still be around.
First scan turned up nothing. 10 minutes later a group of 120 or so Dowitchers
came in. Scanned again and I spotted the Ruff just south of the north island
on the east shore from the NW corner. So I started moving out to the point to
get a better look. I met another birder about half way out to the point. He
had not seen the bird, so I set up my scope for him to see the bird and then
the two of us continued out to the point for a better look. Later on two other
birders came along hoping to see the Ruff so we put the scope on the bird for
them. Seeing the Ruff made the trip worth while and was great being able to
share it with several other people.
Water levels are lower than I thought they would be from other postings. You
could almost make it out to the point in sneakers except for one muddy spot.
Not many shorebirds around. Nothing on the south end of the East Pond.
