This morning's highlights with a little location detail, all at the northern end of the East Pond:
Red-necked Phalarope - probably a basic plumaged adult - very cooperative feeding on the western shore between the north end and the cove, very tame, as noted yesterday by Vinnie Avocet - first just south of the cove, then further south by the 3rd spit Baird's Sandpiper - bright buff - first just south of cove, then by third spit, and around 12:30 just north of the cove, all on the western edge Hudsonian Godwit - I believe first spotted by the Feustels just south of the cove roosting with plovers, then by Doug Gochfeld on the eastern edge opposite the 3rd spit - faded breeding plumage with some chestnut belly spots Also a Pectoral by the cove, a few juvenile Westerns by the third spit, and some Stilt Sandpipers. Missing in action - Wilson's Phalaropes, Marbled Godwit _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live: Keep your friends up to date with what you do online. http://windowslive.com/Campaign/SocialNetworking?ocid=PID23285::T:WLMTAGL:ON:WL:en-US:SI_SB_online:082009 -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES Temporary archive: http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
