Arriving back from my usual weekend in PA I went to Jones Beach. First stop
at the Coast Guard Station. Met John Gluth and some others and viewed an
immature white crowned sparrow. On to West End II with a Kumlien's gull and

Our NYC Audubon group had an excellent day of birding at Jones Beach, Point
Lookout. We saw almost 30 species. The highlights were a Black Scoter and
immature Black-crowned Night Heron at the Coast Guard Station. We saw very

Sam Jannazzo and I started birding at the Jones Beach Coast Guard Station
and walked to the turnaround and back. Along the way we saw three warbler
species (Yellow-rumps, Pine and Blackpoll) and three sparrow species
A brutal but beautiful visit to Jones Beach and Point lookout was relatively
productive. Around nine, it was slow and absolutely freezing at the coast guard
station, with some Bonaparte's Gulls, a Horned Grebe, Great Cormorant and a
lone Eider being the most noteworthy birds there. Moving on
