I looked for the Black-necked Stilt this morning, Monday, about 10:30.  No
luck.  The storm created pool where the bird was has disappeared.  There are
workmen in there now.
In case you want to try for it, drive west on Beekman Avenue.  You will see the
huge abandoned GM site on your right.  Keep going and follow the road as it
swings south.   There is plenty of parking all along here.
You want the westernmost spot.  You will see a new apartment complex, Ichabod's
Landing.  IMMEDIATELY north of the blue and gold sign is a paved sidewalk.
Take it farther west.  Just past the first building is a gate in the fence to
your right.  It is not locked.  We went through there yesterday.  Today, there
are workmen.  Anyway, the bird was standing next to a big yellow backhoe that
has not moved since yesterday.  The pool is gone.
Farther east there are many other pools and ponds in the old GM site.  I didn't
see it, but who knows?
Thanks to Evan Mark for coming upon this amazing rarity.
