Max count of Purple Finches seen together at feeders at Pruyn Audubon Sanctuary
in Chappaqua, Westchester County this afternoon was 43, with 9 full-color males
among the crowd. Largest flock seen together here in 20+ years.
Related but elsewhere observation was a lone Pine Siskin seen flying S

The male Purple Finch was still present at Hoyt Farm Park in Commack (Suffolk
Co.) this morning. I had to wait 20-25 minutes before it made its first
appearance, so some patience is required.
Migrant presence elsewhere in the park was relatively light, but I did find 1
Eastern Phoebe, 2
Between 6:30AM and 9AM, beside the early spring arrivals of Blue-gray
gnatcatcher, both Kinglets, Pine Warbler, Wood duck, and Fox Sparrow, two
Blue-winged Teal, on the Ice Pond, and one male Purple Finch, in the Butterfly
Garden area, were seen at QWR, Quogue, Suffolk County.
