At about 4:15 this afternoon I found a basic plumage RED PHALAROPE at the south end of Sagaponack Pond (Suffolk Co.). The bird was best viewed from the pond entrance along Sagg Main Street just before the beach. The bird was at 40°54'39.20"N, 72°17'8.46"W. The only avian sign that spring
