Hi, I saw the Dovekie in the usual 'west marina' section of the Timber Point Golf Course around 12:40 - 1:00 this afternoon. Incredibly easy to find, incredibly easy access, no hassles. I almost thought I was back birding in North Carolina.
Then I drove to the previously reported Trumpeter Swans in Yaphank, 40.844009,-72.937396 - Google Maps I was fortunate to find them sitting on the sand in the park at the south east corner of the lake. I carefully walked close enough to get the following photos with my pocket digital camera. They were fairly wary. http://home.bway.net/lewis/birds/swan1.JPG http://home.bway.net/lewis/birds/swan2.JPG http://home.bway.net/lewis/birds/swan3.JPG Bob Lewis Sleepy Hollow -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html 3) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
