To give anyone looking for the Shrike a clear idea of how widely it may wander, I saw it at ~10:15 while standing at approximately these coordinates: 40° 35.403' N 73° 33.688' W. It flew in from the east (Coast Guard station), landed briefly atop a bare shrub, then flew west ~100 ft. into a

I devoted much of my field effort today to getting better pictures of the Northern Shrike. So that's one less person chasing Snowy Owls. They're not all that interesting, anyway. They just sit there. Oh wait. They fly around every time someone gets too close. But back to the shrike. Thanks to
