New York Birders, At least one CLIFF SWALLOW was mixed in with the more standard species at Ridge Hill, Yonkers earlier in the week...can't recall if it was Monday or Tuesday?
Yesterday while making a delivery at an apartment complex on Davenport Avenue in New Rochelle, a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON suddenly appeared in flight over the parking lot. My guess is that it came out of a plane tree and was headed to feed along some nearby shoreline. The species nests in that exact scenario (middle of a neighborhood, plane tree, nearby crab habitat) here in Bayonne.
