On Feb. 8 and 9 I traveled to Long Lake and birded with Joan Collins of
Adirondack Avian Expeditions. Highlights were:
Ruffed Grouse along rte. 28N
Black-backed Woodpecker a male seen on the Linsey Marsh Trail and another
heard at Sabattis Bog
Gray Jay Bloomingdale Bog
Boreal Chickadee Bigelow Road
A short stop at Ditch Plain, Rd in Montauk: NO Lark Sparrow seen
At Lazy Point in Montauk, the SNOWY OWL was in the open on a dark log,
"Larry" the Lesser Black Backed Gull was also present.
Both stops were during the late morning snow.

I descried the Barrow's Goldeneye on the West Pond at 7:10 this morning,
and it flew out, together with about 4 Common Goldeneyes, at 7:12. There
remained 117 Common Goldeneyes, almost all of which had flown out by 7:30.
