The marbled godwit was seen west of the Ponquogue Bridge this morning around 9 AM at low tide. It was best seen from the end of Road K, bayside, looking to the northwest. There is a dirt spit with reeds, just west of the big island. The godwit was seen just beyond the dirt spit in the water

I decided to have lunch at Cedar Beach County Park today and I'm glad I did. At least 6 WHIMBRELS were feeding during low tide on the inside flats as well as along the edges of the marsh. The birds were evenly spread out within the complex. Some of the birds were often concealed behind patches
