Thanks to Jack Clancy (visiting brother-in-law from Post Falls, Idaho) the obligatory ride out to Montauk Point produced an immature BAEA seen flying, relatively low, over Montauk Highway in Napeaque. While there was a huge amount of surf fishermen spread out from the n/s of the lighthouse

I spotted the Vesper Sparrow in All Faith Cemetery in Middle Village again this afternoon. I first saw it Wednesday but was unable to relocate it yesterday. It has moved to a new location and is now near the General Slocum memorial, along the paved road that is blocked off to traffic. Also seen

Had a pleasant afternoon birding Caumsett State Park. Had four kestrel hunting simultaneously in the field west of the main building complex.  In the main parking lot a merlin buzzed a flock of starlings but wasn't serious since it had already made a fresh kill; the prey looked like a phoebe
