An obseption is the East Branch Croton River Reservoir along route 22
between Croton Falls and Brewster where the dam is under construction.

After the weekend activities, the island in front of the marina was free of
boaters, sunbathers and campers. There were 11 species of shorebirds including
100 American Oystercatchers (I counted 104); 50+Black-bellied Plover; 20 Red
Knot, some still in plumage, a
Dave Klauber, Bob May and I were joined by John Gluth on today's
CRESLI whale watch cruise out of Montauk. The seas were a bit high at
5-6 feet, but the bird results were pretty good, including an
estimated 350 Wilson's storm-petrels, 250 Cory's shearwaters, 125
greater shearwaters, 1
The town of Southampton has just opened ( is in the process of building )
a new area just to the west of the bay side parking area at Pike's beach.
It consists of a trail to a bird watching platform with benchs, access to
the mud flats, and a new parking lot off Dune Road Holding about a
