Today John Shemilt and I took advantage of the calm weather to venture
offshore from Shinnecock Inlet on Long Island (Suffolk Co). We viewed this
was an exploratory trip, not knowing quite what to expect so early in the

Had a male Yellow-rumped Warbler in the ground bird bath today. Besides the
oriole that's coming to the hummer feeder it's the first migrant of the season
in my yard.

Yesterday, April 21, I found a first year (2nd cal yr) BALD EAGLE at
the south end Long Pond in Sag Harbor, which was different from the
second- or third-year bird (never saw it fly) I found here on Apr 11.
Also there were 2 CASPIAN TERNS at Mecox Bay, but littl
TWO!! Indeed, two Bahamas Piping Plovers have been re-sighted in Rhode Island
by Plover monitors today (21 April). One bird was marked on Andros Island, The
Bahamas in February; the other was marked on Grand Bahama. More details to
follow. It is likely that there are other Bahamas plovers in CT
At 11:45am today I spotted a Hooded Warbler in Prospect Park. I was
crossing the Boulder Bridge, near the Ravine, when it actually hopped
up onto the bridge in front of me (it must have noticed my
binoculars). The bird continued following the bridle path beneath the
bridge, towards Rick's P
